Dr. Joseph S. Madrak, OD is a Board Certified Optometrist (ABO Diplomate) practicing in Shelton, Connecticut, where he owns and operates Eye Care Associates / Dr. Joseph S. Madrak, OD LLC. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from SUNY College of Optometry (Dean's List) and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology (cum laude) from the University at Albany. Dr. Madrak completed a residency in Ocular Disease and Low Vision at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Lyons/East Orange, NJ, where he developed expertise in specialty contact lenses, surgical co-management, and the teaching and supervision of optometry students. He went on to serve as Clinic Director at LCA Vision, overseeing a refractive surgery center in Connecticut and participating on the Optometric Advisory Board, Risk Management Committee, and Clinic Director Advisory Board. He also served on staff at Eye Disease Consultants/Hartford Hospital, a leading ophthalmology practice affiliated with Hartford Hospital. Throughout his career, Dr. Madrak has been recognized for clinical excellence and leadership, receiving the PEARL Award (Professionalism, Excellence, Achievement, Results and Leadership) from LCA-Vision and the Oak Leaf Award for Excellence in Care from the VA NJ Health Care System. He is an active contributor to the Connecticut Association of Optometrists, having served as Scholarship Committee Chair, Membership Committee Member, and Board of Directors Member. He has published clinical case presentations at the American Academy of Optometry and is a member of the American Optometric Association and its Contact Lens and Cornea and Sports Vision specialty sections.
